Halo 3: ODST opens door to addictive Firefights

The details of the Master Chief and his outer space battle against the Covenant, a theological confederation of alien races, can easily overwhelm anyone just stepping into Microsoft's Halo, a space opera franchise that stretches across several games. Instead the recently released Halo 3: ODST sets aside its iconic super soldier and brings the series back to Earth where a highly trained force of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) infiltrates a Covenant-occupied city of New Mombasa while only offering glimpses of the greater events in the Halo universe. Though with a short campaign that finishes in a few hours, ODST has a lot to offer in something billed as merely an expansion title, thanks to the exciting cooperative mode, Firefight.

As the opening mission goes astray, you take the role of the faceless Rookie who awakens hours later from a hard crash-landing in a ruined and abandoned city. The Rookie becomes a device that drives the storytelling as you search for clues to your missing squad mates. With each discovered clue, you flash back into the role of one of your missing crew, who forged ahead hours before, surviving and seeking their next objective through a series of intense action sequences in New Mombasa. In contrast, the Rookie wanders through the quiet desolate night, driven by the game's moody jazz soundtrack reminiscent of the film "Blade Runner."

The same thing is happening with the COD.

ODST I expect to get the list in the coming weeks - especially as more casual gamers - like myself - ODST discover that we do not have to spend without counting on Halo 3 maps.

Having said that I have (but have not yet opened) a whole new game Halo 3 and when the price drops a bit more I'll get ODST.

Meanwhile Gears 2 is just so much fun with a group of friends online.

Mike is not the fact that Halo 3 is to be redeemed odst. There are two discs in the package odst.When you insert the disc you will see ODST ODST Halo is played, but when you insert the disc it will say Multiplayer: Halo 3. So basically, there is a resurgence of Halo 3 because everyone has done with disk 1 already. If there was confrontation between players for the ODST campaign Firefight and I am sure would OSDT the # 2 spot. It is difficult to get a decent firefight or 4 player co-op goes ODST because of it. I traded in Halo 3 ODST and I know others who have done so because they were all done with the campaign of Halo 3, but the multiplayer which develops and persists.

Who gets GTA 4: The Ballads Of Gay Tony. I think it drops today. I was sitting on a fence it but after watching some videos and trailers, and then when I checked the reviews, the review of all is the praises of this episode. I certainly get what everyone says it's the best part of the city of freedom. It's over the top GTA style....
